Kerema Friends Enterprises Inc

Brief of Kerema Friends Enterprises Inc

Kerema Friends Enterprises is a new venture, initiated by Ed Brumit, an American citizen who worked for a humanitarian health organization in Kerema in 2020 and 2021. Ed was impressed with the natural beauty of Gulf Province during that time, and now that he is retired from humanitarian work, he would like to help the Provincial Government to realize one of its strategic economic priorities which is niche tourism. He has teamed up with some PNG friends with the objective ofdeveloping tourism in Gulf Province of Papua New Guinea. Why Papua New Guinea? Because Papua New Guinea is a south seas tropical paradise. People living in Europe, North America and Asia dream of temperate climates all year round, tropical forests and pristine beaches. Papua New Guinea has all of this and more. Today's tourists are looking for adventure. Papua New Guinea, with its more than 600 tribes and relative non-exploitation by its colonizers is adventure. From fierce traditional war costumes and make-up to crocodiles in the rivers, there is adventure at every turning point. Why Gulf Province? Until recently, Gulf Province is one of the poorest provinces in Papua New Guinea. But recent discoveries of oil and gas has sparked a great deal of interest and development in the province. Hiritano Highway is being upgraded, making Gulf more accessible than before. The new thu economic zone is bringing in new investment and international attention. Exploitation of gas and oil around Kikori is also providing new tax income to aid the province's development plans. And the government is capable and cooperative, making it an ideal place for new business ventures such as ours. Gulf has many resources which make it ideal for tourism. It now needs appropriate lodging and food services, along with linkages to already available touristic attractions and the development of new ones. Why start in Kerema Town? Kerema Town is the capital of Gulf Province, so to work effectively with the Provincial Government on development of tourism, it makes sense to be here. And Kerema is the home of the biggest tourist attraction in the province - Pariva Beach! Celebrated in many classic PNG songs, the huge black- sand beach is a treasure. The new Kerema market can be showcased in much the same way that Kokopo Market is now a tourist attraction in East New Britain. The economic influx due to the gas and oil discoveries is being used wisely to fund festivals and business development in the town.Current plans call for development of a camp-style hotel and gastronomic restaurantin Kerema Town. We are currently evaluating two different possibilities for structureswhich could be adapted and renovated for this purpose. This exploitation of existingstructures will allow us to begin our development with a small investment and within.a short timeframe. And to facilitate the movement of both national and internationaltourists, we also plan on implementing a transport business between Port Moresby
